ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Oakleaf Junior High students and teachers saw one photo and decided they had to jump into action.

The photo shows a young man, a victim of Haiti's earthquake, who lost both legs.

But the look on his face and the story behind his guts and determination motivated the students to begin a documentary on how prosthetic legs are made.

The project spins off of Jeannie Blaylock's special report, "The First Coast Stands Up For Haiti." When the students are finished, First Coast News will post their work on

Teacher Sundae Stubbs said she sees it as a terrific opportunity for her media students to challenge themselves and learn compassion for people in another country.

In fact, she's asking all her classes to watch our special TV report at 8 p.m. tonight on NBC-12  right after "Jeopardy."
