BANGKOK (AP) - Japan's benchmark stock index fell today while markets elsewhere in Asia were quiet or closed, two days after the Fed announced it would keep its unprecedented stimulus program in place.

Trading throughout Asia was muted, largely due to public holidays. Markets in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea and Malaysia were closed.

Benchmark crude oil fell to just above $106 per barrel. The dollar gained against the euro and fell against the yen.
