TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Despite reports of glitches, state officials say a new jobless claims computer system is working.

Department of Economic Opportunity spokeswoman Monica Russell said Wednesday that more than 50,000 people have successfully filed for claims in just two days.

The new online $63 million system replaced a three-decade old system that was shut down last week.

The agency's Facebook page has been filled with complaints from people who said they were having problems filing claims. Russell said some people are having problems, but she called them minor technical issues. She said that some people may just be having problems adjusting to the state's new computer system.

An estimated 235,000 people in Florida receive unemployment benefits every two weeks.
