WASHINGTON -- The State of Florida will be getting some help from Washington to deal with the continuing problems plaguing the unemployment system that has been the subject of multiple WTSP stories.

Sen. Bill Nelson said Wednesday he received a phone call from U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez Tuesday night to tell him he is sending his key staff that handle unemployment insurance to Tallahassee by the end of the week and that they will stay until the problems are fixed.

Sen. Nelson recently made a call for the federal government to investigate the problems with the state's claims website, CONNECT, has had since its launch Oct. 15.

Over the last few months, the DEO has promised Floridians that they're working diligently to fix this failing system, only it still isn't fixed and there are still login problems nearly three months later.
