COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman, her unborn child and a man were killed in a three-car crash on Friday afternoon at U.S. 441 and SW Catherine Road.
Jennifer Lee Anne Duncan, 20, who was six months pregnant with a male child, and Kenneth Patrick Pelletier, 21, were ejected from a 2008 Smart Passion vehicle, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Duncan and Pelletier were not wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
David Lee Huckaba, 29, was traveling in a 1994 Chevy Camaro behind a line of traffic southbound on U.S. 441, the release detailed.
Huckaba went to swerve around the line of traffic. He then saw two vehicles coming -- Duncan's and a 2004 Chevy Cavalier traveling northbound on 441, driven by 36-year-old Matthew Keven Schroader -- and went back into the southbound lane.
He struck the rear of Duncan's vehicle, which was attempting to turn to travel southbound on U.S. 441.
Schroader's vehicle struck the right side of Duncan's vehicle, which traveled into the path of Schroader's vehicle.
Three passengers in Schroader's vehicle had minor to serious injuries.
Charges are pending the results of the investigation, according to the release.
