JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Many cats and dogs from local shelters found a home during the Mega Pet Adoption event on December 9.

Across Northeast Florida First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services, the Jacksonville Humane Society and other animal rescue groups came together for the event, which placed 823 dogs and cats in a new home.

This event is the fifth in a series of events that have saved more than 4,500 animals since 2012, according to a FCNMHP press release. The goal for the event is to empty local shelters and rescues to help make the area a no-kill community.
