Palm Coast tornado victims still waiting to hear from insurance companies

PALM COAST, Fla. -- As residents of Palm Coast continue to clean up after this weekend's tornado, some are still waiting to hear from their insurance companies.

Palm Coast City officials have received complaints from residents saying insurance companies have been slow to respond.

Officials have contacted the Florida Insurance Commission to try and resolve the issue.

The tornado struck Dec. 14, damaging at least 171 homes. 12 of them are destroyed.  142 partially damaged.

Palm Coast Mayor Jon Netts declared the area a state of emergency Monday afternoon.
