JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are now investigating a woman's Dec. 1 death in a fire above Greybeard's Tavern as a homicide.

Assistant Chief Chris Butler told our news partner The Florida Times-Union on Monday that the Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of 43-year-old Kathy Lorraine Johnson a homicide.

No foul play was initially suspected in Johnson's death. Butler said he could not tell the Times-Union how Johnson died, citing an ongoing investigation.

Johnson was staying in one of three rooms above the tavern. No one else was hurt in the fire.
