NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. - Santa is not our community's only out of town guest this Christmas. A fourteen foot great white shark named Katherine has also swung into town.

According to great white shark research non-profit OCEARCH the female great white, who was tagged on Aug. 20 off the coast of Cape Cod, has made her way to the warmer waters off the coast of Nassau County as recently as 5:54 a.m. Thursday.

Katherine weighs in at 2,300 pounds, but is still considered to be in her immature life stage according to OCEARCH.

According to the OCEARCH website, Katherine was named by Cat Products fans in honor of Katharine Lee Bates, a Cape Cod native and songwriter, best known for her poem and song "America The Beautiful," which has been called "an expression of patriotism at its finest."
