Nalcrest, Fla. -- Rest assured, in the Central Florida community Nalcrest, the weather is always a topic of conversation.
"Yesterday we had rain, day before we had a shower," say resident Richard Gallagher.
The days of rain have given plenty of fodder to the 750 or so residents of this retirement village about 70 miles east of Tampa.
But neither the rain nor heat can keep these residents from making their appointed rounds... in today's case, many made their "rounds" to the town barber shop.
They're used to being out in the elements.
Everyone who lives in this town, which has its own zipcode -- 33856 -- has one thing in common.
They all worked for the postal service as letter carriers.
Gallagher, who's lived here for little more than a year, moved from Long Island, where he was a mailman for more than 30 years.
"It's almost like a brotherhood," he said.
Nalcrest is actually and initialism: National Association of Letter Carriers Retirement Education Security and Training.
And only those NALC union members who've retired can live here.
It was built in 1963, and has all the amenities a retirement community needs, including a very competitive softball team.
The cost of living is very affordable.
Monthly rent ranges from $395 to $520 per month.
No dogs are allowed.
