JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hundreds of new jobs are on their way to the First Coast.
Convergys, the employer of about 70,000, today announced 400 new positions at its Jacksonville contact center.
In a news release sent by the relationship management company, Convergys said half of the jobs will be for seasonal work with a client in the lawn care industry.
The other half are non-seasonal jobs supporting a client in telecommunications. The openings are for work in sales and customer service.

"The growth of a current client program and a seasonal ramp for another client has enabled us to provide additional employment opportunities for local job seekers," said Robin Cheshire, site leader for the Convergys facility in Jacksonville.
"These positions are ideally suited to anyone who appreciates the importance of building strong customer relationships while helping callers understand the products and services they will receive."
Convergys said the jobs will offer training, incentives and benefits.
Interested applicants will need customer service and sales experience, computer skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Candidates will be subject to a background check and drug screening.
