26.2 WITH DONNA PHOTO GALLERY
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office along with the Department of Transportation are gearing up for the major road closures associated with the 26.2 with Donna on Sunday.
Several highly traveled roads across the First Coast will be shut down to make way for the runners.
The race starts and ends off San Pablo Road at the Mayo Clinic.
Runners will take over J. Turner Butler Boulevard eastbound, which will be blocked past Hodges Boulevard. The race will then continue up Third Street and run through various side streets, before moving onto the beach as well.
Detour signs will be posted and traffic is being diverted from J. Turner Butler Boulevard to head northbound on Hodges Boulevard.
Signs will then direct drivers to head east on Beach Boulevard and south on A1A. Atlantic Boulevard would also be an alternate route to reach the beaches area.
There will be very heavy traffic in these areas through Sunday afternoon. Police will be present at all of the major intersections to monitor the situation.
