JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The annual Back to School Giveaway attracted a huge crowd at the Teacher Supply Depot on the city's Westside.
The giveaway of donated supplies ranging from pencils to paper and other classroom goodies brought some teachers out early in the wee hours of the morning.
Duval teachers embodied the saying "the early bird gets the worm," as they began lining up around 4:30 a.m. to be first in line.
"I was second last year and first this year. Worth the wait? Yes sir, totally," said Linda Edwards.
Tracie Westberry arrived early as well.
"All that stuff adds up and we only get like $120 dollars from the state to pay for any supplies that we need our classroom," said Westberry a teacher at First Coast High.
The Teacher Supply Depot expected to see more than 800 teachers who were limited to picking up three bags of supplies.
