JSO: Approx. 56 officers used in search for Perrywinkle

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, approximately 56 officers were involved in the search for Cherish Perrywinkle and her alleged killer Donald Smith.

Among the resources used were approximately 40 detectives/officers approximately 11 sergeants/lieutenants and 5 command staff. 

The number of personnel is approximate due to a number of officers assisting without logging out on the MDC system or being dispatched, according to JSO.

The 56 officers included members assigned to various groups: Patrol, Investigations, K-9, Aviation, Crime Analysis, Crime Scene Investigators, Emergency Preparedness, Offender Tracking Unit and Sheriff's Staff.

JSO received support from a number of Federal, State and Local law enforcement partners who provided on-scene resources including FBI, FDLE, FHP, City of Jacksonville Emergency Management Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the Atlantic Beach Police Department. 

According to JSO the officers were actively involved in the search from 11:30 p.m. on Friday till 10 a.m. on Saturday.
