JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An enhanced seat belt awareness campaign across the First Coast has warned drivers of the dangers of not buckling up.
Mangled vehicles have been set up at certain locations around Jacksonville, like the one in the Publix parking lot at the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Touchton Road. It's an awareness campaign partnership with AAA and the Traffic Safety Foundation.
The mangled vehicles were also accompanied by stories of drivers who survived bad wrecks because they were wearing their seat belts.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 70 percent of people involved in fatal crashes across the First Coast last year were not wearing their seat belts.
So First Coast News would like to remind you to buckle up and avoid distractions behind the wheel.
You can sign our pledge, the Great First Coast Hang Up, promising to be a safe drivers.
