TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol released the results of their Independence Day holiday enforcement campaign.
From July 1 to 4, 2012, FHP troopers issued 8,327 traffic citations and made 82 arrests for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs.
3,533 drivers were cited for speeding and 656 for failing to buckle up.
Due to the enhanced enforcement and the increase in troopers patrolling Florida's roadways over the 4-day period, nearly 2,500 motorists were assisted and 123 vehicles were placed out of service for critical safety violations.
