JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Saralee Barlette was ready to work.

"This is my business card, this is the car magnet that would go on my vehicle. And ordered T-shirts, I have two of these," she said.

Hired as a subcontractor for Voxcom Cleaning Services, she started cleaning two houses a day for them in early October.

But 4 weeks ago, the paychecks stopped coming, and she couldn't get a straight answer from the company, who was still advertising on deal sites like Groupon and Living Social.

"We have to cancel because we're not getting paid. And they say 'I've already paid for my Groupon or Living Social. What do I do,'" she said.

She says the company told her to keep working, and eventually she would be paid.

To date, she says she's owed more than $1,300 dollars.

Then last Friday, she got an email saying the business was going belly up.

"Unfortunately the business is shutting the doors, going out of business," she said.

The email promises employees they will eventually get their money, but their website is still active and booking appointments.

Voxcom hired Saralee's neice, Carrie, as well but never paid her a penny.

"These customers are not happy. They've paid for this cleaning, they want someone to come out," she said.

Multiple emails and phone calls to Voxcom were not returned ... to both First Coast News and the employees who have been working for them.

"I'm very frustrated, very stressed out. Very upset," she said.
