JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tax season is in full swing and the On Your Side team wants to remind you to request and check your annual credit history report. You should check your report closely and dispute anything out of the ordinary to the credit agency.
Donna sent us an email believing she was an identity theft victim after being denied a credit card application. She told us she called Experian and she said she was told it might be a possible clerical error after someone entered her social security number incorrectly by one digit.
Donna said she is working through the issue but no longer believes she is the victim of identity theft. She urges others to check their credit history.
You are entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the credit reporting agencies.
Annualcreditreport.com is a resource to request credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies.
