JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- David of Jacksonville wonders what happened to the upgrade of bus stops in one part of the city.
Namely on the Southside along Beach Boulevard, near St. John's Bluff Road.
Jacksonville Transportation Authority spokesman, John Finotti released the following statement:
"JTA has 4,000 bus stops scattered throughout Jacksonville. 450 of them have shelters. JTA has committed to build 50 new shelters each year. JTA is still in the process of selecting the locations for the 50 new shelters in 2013.
"Please note that selecting a shelter location is based on ridership numbers and must follow federal requirements that stipulate equal treatment throughout the service area. In other words, JTA cannot place new shelters in just one area of the city. They must be located equally throughout the system."
