In the event of a major storm, residents of Jacksonville's beach communities will be evacuated to safer locations inland.

Residents will need a re-entry tag to be allowed back into their communities after Emergency Operations Center officials have deemed it safe to return. The tags are free to Beaches residents and businesses.

Tags are available year-round at city halls in Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville. It is imperative that these tags be limited to Beaches residents and businesses only.

If residents don't have a tag, they will be directed to an identification verification station where they will need to provide authorities identification with a current beach address.

Once verified, they will be issued a tag and allowed to rejoin the traffic headed back across the Intracoastal Waterway.
