Time: Minimum commitment is 15 hours per week. We prefer to schedule interns in 8 hour shifts, two to three days per week. Students should be available to work flexible hours including days, nights and weekends.
There are specific skills and requirements for interns who wish to participate in the intern program at First Coast News. Candidates are required to be taking the internship for college credit, and be broadcast, journalism or communications (non - public relations and/or marketing path) majors. Candidates with a proven track record in writing for broadcast, editing and web production are preferred.

As a intern in the News department, you will be exposed to many different areas of the news gathering process. You will have the opportunity to gain some hands on experience while increasing your knowledge of multimedia news gathering and production.

Interns may rotate through different areas including writing, assignment desk, producing, editing, videography, studio production, directing, special projects, web producing and assisting reporting crews.
You will have an opportunity to concentrate in the areas that interest you most, as well as assist in the day to day operations within the newsroom.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated, outgoing, dependable, detail orientated, exhibit a high level of professionalism, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
