Coach James Day has been an inspiration to young athletes for close to 50 years. Coach Day developed the Bob Hayes Invitational Track and Field Meet in 1964 to help with funding of the Athletic Department at Raines High School.
Starting with 5 local high school teams, it is now known as the largest one day high school track meet in the nation-and includes a scholarship golf tournament and national cable coverage.
Coach Day's list of accomplishments is long, and he has been honored over 250 times; but it is the legacy he leaves to the student athletes that matters most to him.
