JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A single mom in Jacksonville was working as a food prep employee until a car accident. Now she's grateful for local food banks.
She says she's used to working, but a car accident has her out of a job now. No income means not enough money to buy food, and so Tonia is grateful for local food banks.
Tonia has three daughters: two pre-teens and one at Florida State College, she says with pride.
For now, though, Tonia is in a back brace because of a car accident.
Second Harvest Food Bank introduced First Coast News to Tonia and her family because she uses the services of member agencies for food for her family.
Second Harvest says on the First Coast now one in six children are hungry. The economy is certainly taking its toll on local families.
You can be a hero to folks like Tonia.
