ST. MARYS, Ga. -- Scott Fleming has spent more than two decades in the military and his most recent focus is on torpedoes; he's a senior chief machinist mate on the U.S.S. Georgia, a sub on Kings Bay. But Scott wrote in to Hero Central and said his wife has a tougher job.
Scott's wife, Stacy, has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and has to give herself shots daily. On top of her physical challenges, she cares for the kids when her husband is tied up defending the country.
That's why Scott reached out to Hero Central. He'd seen the Hero Beaders in action delivering handmade bracelets to cancer and dialysis patients. His email explained his wife deserved a Hero Bracelet, as well.
So Jeude Rooks at River City Beads hopped right into action.
Our Hero Beader captain, a veteran beader herself, decided she wanted to make a special sterling silver bracelet for Stacy. The gift moved her to tears, and she said she will likely wear the bracelet every day.
If you know someone who's very, very ill, go to the "Need a Hero" section of Hero Central on FirstCoastNews.com. If you'd like to make bracelets for deserving folks, let us know.
