Our professional stylists will cut your hair for free if you can donate 10 inches or more. Please remember there may or may not be time for our volunteers to style your hair.
Over the years, thousands have been inspired to give their hair to make hundreds of wigs for children.
The children who are bald because of illness often endure teasing from others. But with a hairpiece made from real hair, these children get the confidence they need to excel in school and feel better around their peers.
It takes 140,000 individual strands of hair blended together and placed root down into a custom mold to make one wig. Each hairpiece has a special vacuum seal so the wearer can swim in it and not worry about wind blowing it off.
The children receive several wigs as their heads grow.
Dyed hair is accepted, but "virgin" hair is the first choice. There's also a high demand for long hair for teenage girls -- 15 inches or more. Men are welcome to donate, too.
If you're a licensed stylist and would like to help, please email volunteer coordinator Lea Montgomery at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
