JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville woman says she loves grocery shopping.  She compares searching for sales to a treasure hunt, but she says it wasn't always so fun.

Paulette Waterman recalls a couple years ago, when shopping was a chore.

"It was so mundane," she said.

Now, Waterman says she can't wait to get the grocery store flier in the mail.  She says her weekly trips to the store are exciting, because she shops with a mission to give.

Waterman shops the 'buy one get one free' items at the grocery store and gives half the groceries to a family with five children.

"Knowing I'd probably be up all night with the baby, I'd open my garage door and there would be bags of groceries sitting there with a little note from her.," said Waterman's grocery recipient, Edi Wohlgemuth.

Wohlgemuth said when her family started to grow, her longtime friend Waterman asked if she could donate groceries to her.

With five children under the age of 11, Wohlgemuth says it was hard to refuse.

"I think my comment was, 'it takes a village, please anything you have to give us we'll take,' We're not too prideful,"she said.

Once a week, Waterman leaves groceries at Wohlgemuth's house.  Her kids call Waterman, the grocery fairy, because the groceries seem to magically appear.

"It is exciting to know that you are getting such a value and you can donate that to another family," said Waterman.
