JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An 87-year-old Jacksonville man has spent the last ten years in the classroom. He volunteers every day at San Pablo Elementary School.
Bill Hutchinson said just until recently he walked every morning to the school. Now he drives, but his job is the same. He volunteers in a fifth grade math class.
"It is just such a pleasant atmosphere here. It is just something I enjoy doing," said Hutchinson.
In addition to helping students with math problems, he said he's also mentored a few students and has kept in touch them. He said they're like family.
"They are such a great bunch of kids," he said.
Every year, Hutchinson also donates money to the school. The principal said it is in the thousands.
"He never wants anything in return," said Kim Bays, the school principal.
