PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Two years after his wife was diagnosed with cancer Sgt. Nick Jennette got the same life-changing news.

Jennette and his wife both have lung cancer; his wife's has spread to her brain and his has spread to his liver.

Mounting medical bills forced him out of retirement and returned to work with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Nick Jennette also has worked for Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

He calls the response from his co-workers unbelievable. He explained that many of them have given him their sick days, so he can take the time off he needs following treatment.

"It is just overwhelming. I couldn't believe the way people came to my rescue," he said.

Over the years, Jennette has done a number of motorcycle rides to benefit others and for the first time, there is a benefit ride for he and his wife.

It will include a scenic bike ride, food, prizes and music.

For details on how you can get involved, go to the Putnam County Sheriff's office website and click on PCSO Motorcycle Ride Benefit on the front page.
