Video: Dog Walks for First Time after Gunshot Injury

  • Bullet using his wheelchair after being shot, which injured his back legs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An update to a hero central story we first brought you a couple weeks ago: A dog, unable to walk due to a gunshot wound, has made what his veterinarians call a miraculous recovery.

When we first met Bullet, he was testing out his new wheels at Animal Care and Protective Services.  He was unable to use his back legs due to the gunshot injury.

A group of vet techs worked to suit him in a wheelchair.  It allowed him to get around using wheels for his back legs.

Tammy Scott, a vet tech, said even though he was getting around on the wheels, she continued to do physical therapy with him.

One morning, she said, he stood up on his own.  A few days later, he was walking.

"I am thrilled. I'm just amazed," she said about Bullet's recovery.

Animal Care and Protective Services is taking applications to adopt Bullet.  For information click here to visit their page on the city of Jacksonville website.
