JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On May 28, 2011, a First Coast woman lost a lifetime of memories in a house fire.

Now the community brought new beginnings from the ashes.

"After 50 years of staying in a house, it's just the memories; you've lost everything that you had, everything that you gained was gone," Inez Green said.

Out of the cinders and destruction rose a new home.

"Once you meet Ms. Inez Green it's easy to see why we would get involved," said Chris Simons, executive director for Builders Care. "She's a precious lady who lived in this house for 50 years and a tragic fire occurred and she lost everything she owned."

They couldn't save the charred possessions she's collected along her 82-year journey, but they could give her the next best thing: transforming her house back into a home.

"They have helped me and kept me feeling like I was someone not throwed away," Green said. "It means an awful lot to me. It makes me, of all my life it makes me real happy to be coming back home."
