James Bond doesn't invade U.S. theaters until Friday, but already 007 has a hit on his hands.

Skyfall, the 23rd film of the James Bond franchise, did huge numbers overseas this weekend, racking up $156 million and bringing its overseas haul to $287 million.

That could put the latest installment, anchored by Daniel Craig, on track to break the franchise's all-time record.

The current title holder is 2006's Casino Royale, which made $594 million worldwide, according to Boxofficemojo.com.

And Skyfall will only soar as it enters other large markets this week, including China, Australia, Japan and Turkey.

The movie "should have no trouble obliterating Casino Royale's" record, says Boxofficemojo.com's Ray Subers. "In fact, $500 million appears to be a foregone conclusion."
