JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- The corner of 2nd Street and 9th Avenue in Jacksonville Beach has been Adam Brett's office for the past year and a half.
"I'm probably out here 12 to 15 hours a day," he said.
He buys his equipment at places like Home Depot and Sherwin-Williams, and gets help from a local carpenter for other supplies.
He is a painter, but he doesn't do houses like the heavy duty, commercial equipment would suggest.
At his roadside gallery, people stop and stare as Brett paints.
"It's so much fun, I mean, I get to paint at the beach."
It's very obvious from looking at his work that he loves vibrant, contrasting colors.
One of his specialties is bright paintings of waves. It's what he was working on today.
He said he paints outside in the open part for the inspiration, but also for the organic, grass-roots style advertising.
"Being out here and seeing all these people, with this weather and the beach only a block away, there's no better inspiration."
He said dozens of people stop and talk to him about his work each day, many will even walk away having purchased one of his pieces.
"If you're going to spend all day doing something, you want to do something that's going to make you happy and make a difference to somebody."
Brett does not have a cell phone, but here is a link to his Facebook page, if you're interested in seeing more of his art.
