ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- First Coast News' Jessica Clark had the chance to interview two members of Mumford & Sons -- Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett -- Saturday before they took the stage for the Gentleman of the Road tour in St. Augustine.

The Grammy award winning band quite taken with St. Augustine.

"We really wanted to find a way to come to Florida," Lovett said.

When Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons heard about St. Augustine's history and beauty, they were all in.

"We're like -- yeah. A no brainer. It was probably the easiest decision," Lovett said.

The English folk rock band plays big arenas around the world and has millions of fans, but they created Gentlemen of the Road tours with a purpose.

"We celebrate some of the best small towns in the world," Lovett said.

"We believe in sharing. So we believe in putting a line up of our favorite bands and invite people to come and watch them with us," Mumford noted.

Promoters say the band also wants to boost local economies.

"We are intentional about leaving it better than we find it, which is quite hard with a beautiful place like St Augustine," Mumford added.

They've been in town for a few days spending a lot of time at the beach surfing and swimming and taking in the sites.

"People are saying there's something different, mystical about St. Augustine and Florida. I've really fallen in love with it," Lovett smiled.

From the questions you suggested on our Facebook page, Clark asked them, "How do you stay grounded with all the popularity?"

Mumford said they measure success by their concerts.

"Not in record sales or radio play. Our success is in the live arena," Mumford said.

And they say the St. Augustine crowd has been one of the best they've encountered.
