Chris Brown finally appeared in a Washington, D.C., courtroom on Monday afternoon after being arrested Sunday and charged with felony assault for getting into a fight outside the W Hotel.
The charge was reduced to simple assault, a misdemeanor, reports AP, and the singer was ordered released. He spent the night in police lockup in the 2nd District Station, reports The Washington Post.
Brown has another court appearance on Nov. 25.
TMZ reports the reason Brown's charge was reduced is because the injuries to the victim were minor, even though the victim said Brown broke his nose.
Brown is still on probation for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, and has had a number of run-ins with the law since then. He's due back in court Nov. 20 in Los Angeles to update a judge on his probation.
