STARKE, Fla. -- A 52-year-old man died when the pickup truck he was riding in rear-ended a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning.
David Roberson was riding in a pickup truck with 61-year-old Debra Sharpe, according to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Sharpe was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on U.S. 301 near Southeast 48th Avenue around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
As Sharpe neared the intersection of U.S. 301 and SE 48th, the report says for unknown reasons, she failed to stop for a red traffic signal, rear-ending a stopped tractor-trailer.
Rescue workers transported Sharpe to Shands at the University of Florida with serious injuries.
Troopers pronounced Roberson dead at the scene.
Both Sharpe and Roberson were wearing seat belts. The report said charges in the crash are pending.
