BAKER COUNTY, Fla. -- One teen was killed and another two seriously injured Saturday night after the driver of a pickup lost control and drove into a ditch, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Austin Kight, 17, of Macclenny, was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck north on Claude Harvey Road at 9:45 p.m., FHP said, when he attempted to pass another vehicle and drove into the left shoulder and into a ditch.

Kight attempted to steer the truck out of the ditch and lost control.

The FHP says the pickup truck began to rotate then crossed over the roadway and onto the right shoulder. While traveling across the road, it overturned and crashed into the woods, east of the road.

When the pickup overturned Kight, and two other passengers, Cory Craig, 17, of Macclenny, and Jordan Alexis Sommise, 14, of Jacksonville, were ejected from the vehicle. None of them were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the crash report.

Kight and Craig were transported to Shands at Jacksonville after sustaining serious injuries. Sommise was fatally injured during the crash.  A check Monday afternoon with Shands Jacksonville found Kight had been released from the hospital.  Craig is still at Shands Jacksonville in critical condition.

Officials say charges are pending.
