By Mark Spain First Coast News JACKSONVILLE,FL -- Stray Cathouse cares for more than 350 abandoned and feral cats. The house has been a home to many of them since it opened in 1997. "Basically, they're all strays. We take them in. When they have no vet care, we pay for everything and we do it all on private donations," said Executive Director Sharon Clark. The owner of the building that houses Stray Cathouse says the renters have failed to meet a number of lease agreements and everything and every cat must go. "I've got a couple people taking two or four. Somebody taking ten and somebody taking 20. Ideally, we need a new building," remarked Clark. Vet bills alone run anywhere between three and five-thousand dollars a month. It is a whopping expense that is a challenge for a group working off donations and trying to care for cats that others have forgotten. "These cats don't deserve it. This is the only home they've ever known," Clark said. If you would like more information on the Stray Cathouse, call 904-354-4451.
