GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The list of 36 nominees for the University of Florida's next president includes former Jacksonville mayor and current University of North Florida president John Delaney.
"This is a list with the names of individuals nominated by third parties," said Janine Sikes, director of public affairs at UF. "Anyone can nominate anyone else for consideration during the search. Just because someone is on the list does not mean they are interested in the position."

Delaney is in that camp. He said in a statement he is flattered, but is not interested.
"While it is flattering to be considered for the highest position at my alma mater, I'm happy at UNF," he said.
Delaney also said in June that he would not be applying for the UF job.
UF's current president, Bernie Machen is planning to step down next year.
