JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida now has a new way for nursing students to attend classes.

UNF's School of Nursing in the Brooks College of Health will now offer a distance learning option.  This means nursing students at the university will be able to earn a bachelor's degree without necessarily having to take classes at the school's main campus.

The new online format for the degree course will start this summer.

Dr. Debra Wagner, assistant professor in UNF's School of Nursing and RN-BSN program director, said, "We are really excited to be able to offer our RN-BSN program in an online format.  More nurses will be able to expand their nursing knowledge and complete their BSN in one year through distance learning that allows flexibility around work and family schedules."

Offered in a RN-designated cohort, the distance learning course will enable nurses to finish coursework in three semesters, or about a year.

Faculty may occasionally require students to attend assignments related to clinical activities at the school's campus but the coursework will predominantly be done online.

For more information on the new distance learning program, visit the UNF School of Nursing's website and click on RN-BSN Bridge.
