FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- The Flagler County School Board on Tuesday night decided to put an officer in each elementary school for the remainder of the year at a cost between $75,000 and $100,000.

The Flagler County Sheriff's office has agreed to cover 25 percent of that cost.

As for next year, the School Board says it needs to work on it's budget to figure out if it can afford an officer in each school.

This move comes after the School Board voted unanimously on Jan. 22 to allow a parent to pay for police security at Old Kings Elementary School.

Laura Lauria, president of Police Services, Inc., reached out to the school board, offering to pay $11,000 to have an officer at her child's school for the next two months.
