JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Duval County Public Schools classroom assistant has been removed from a classroom at Love Grove Elementary School after a special needs student was reportedly bitten by that adult classroom assistant.
The school district was alerted to the allegation on Tuesday, according to DCPS spokesperson Marsha Oliver.
The child was taken to a local hospital and was later released with no medical issues, according to John Harrell with the Florida Department of Children and Families.
DCF is investigating this situation and trying to get more information on just what occurred in the classroom.
Oliver said the district's Office of Professional Standards is also investigating and is working with DCF in its investigation. The classroom assistant has been removed pending the investigation's outcome.
