JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Her instructor calls her an inspiration, and that's what makes Shaquice Floyd our Student of the Week.
Shaquice is a sophomore at Ed White High School involved with NJROTC.
"She gives 150 percent all the time and I didn't even know when I nominated some of the other stuff that she is involved in, some of the other stuff that she does," said Senior Naval Instructor at Ed White John Burton. "But here in the classroom, she's a straight-A student."
Shaquice has congenial glaucoma and said she can't join the army as a result. So she enjoys the ROTC, which teaches her discipline and looks great on her college applications.
Shaquice also helps out students like her with visual impairment at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
"Just to help them with stuff they're going through or even if it's just to help them get from place to place, means so much to me," Shaquice said.
Shaquice said she plans to major in environmental sciences in college.
