MARION COUNTY, Fla. -A school employee accused of sending naked photos of herself to male students has set off a sexting scandal in Marion County.
Jody Onorato, 43, was arrested last week after school officials got wind of the rumors.
Onorato was an attendance clerk at Vanguard High School in Ocala. Officials said she resigned last week after allegations that she sent the naked photos to at least two male students.
"She did verify that she did send photos to the students in question and had made statements to the effect that she needed some help, that she did it out of loneliness or a need for attention," said Ocala police spokeswoman Angy Scroble.
According to police, rumors at the school caught the ears of school resource officers who notified parents.
Police said one picture was texted in January, while the other was two years old and that student is now in college.
Vanguard High School students and parents were outraged.
"That is an adult and we are entrusting them with a our children," said parent Seanitra Locker. "We send our children here thinking they are going to be safe and not be exposed to pedophiles of any nature. That is disturbing."
Onorato was released from jail on $20,000 bond. She is facing charges of transmitting harmful material to a minor.
