ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The Superintendent for the St. Johns County School District has removed himself for consideration as Florida's next Lieutenant Governor.

"While I am humbled and honored to have been considered," Joseph Joyner wrote in a letter to colleagues, "this decision would reverse the priorities in my life and ultimately render me ineffective. It is very clear to me that I am a grateful man with many blessings. I have blessings of faith, family and the opportunities to live and work in a wonderful place with amazing students and people."
