BRUNSWICK, GA -- A Brunswick teenager started his own successful business in the 8th grade. 5-years later, he's now a senior in high school, his business is growing and he's looking forward to doing other big things in the future. Zach Strickland is our "Student of the Week."

He sits among other talented musicians in band at Brunswick High School.  Zach Strickland plays alto saxophone. "The main thing (I do) that takes up a lot of my time is band. I love it. I love being with my friends and stuff."

His love of music motivated him, along with one of his good friends, to start a D.J. business in the 8th grade.

"They've been running their own successful business since 8th grade. They've updated their equipment. They play at dances and weddings. To be an entrepreneur in 8th grade is impressive,' said Band Director John Birge.

His band director says Zach is an amazing student; very respectful and is a good role model for other kids. "He's motivated. Good academically, but socially he makes everybody around him want to be better."

Zach also plays in the marching band and believes what he's learned in band will help him accomplish his goals after college. "Being an engineer has always appealed to me. I know it sounds cheesy, but I want to be able to help the world in some way in whatever I do even no matter how small it is."

Zach has a long resume including 4 years in the marching band; Vice-President of the Beta Club, President of the National Honors Society, and he was selected as one the most outstanding seniors at his high school.
