JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- She's tough, strict and her students love her. Religion teacher Lu Tablante at Assumption Catholic School is our Teacher of the Week.
Her students call her Ms. Lu and she has a great connection with her students.
Sixth grader Maribeth Nguyen nominated Ms. Lu for Teacher of the Week.
"The first time I came to her class I knew I would like her and she's the best teacher I ever had," said Nguyen.
The students say she listens, understands and really knows religion.
"What I like about this class is how Ms. Lu teaches us and helps us with everything when we don't understand it," said 7th grader Toni Jurendic.
Her room is different from most classrooms. It's filled with crosses, angels, and pictures of the Pope. Afterall, she is teaching religion in a Catholic school and it's a subject she really enjoys.
"They know I love them. I'm tough in a way because I'm a great disciplinarian and that's why I love teaching religion because I share God's wisdom," said Tablante.
Lu Tablante has taught for 35 years, 10 years in the Philippines and 25 years at Assumption Catholic.
