PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- A fifth grade student nominated his teacher at PV/PV Rawlings Elementary School for Teacher of the Week.
The nomination was a bit of a surprise for Karen Sinclair and she was even more surprised when her 91-year-old father came to visit her class.
"I think she's spectacular (as a teacher). She's very dedicated," said her father Al Lindsey.
Her students think she's special, too.
Fifth grader Charlie Pierce nominated Ms. Sinclair for Teacher of the Week. "You can easily learn well with her. It's not hard to understand what she's trying to say or do with you. It's easier to understand," said Pierce.
Sinclair became a teacher later in life. She raised her children went to college and found her passion in teaching.
"I know if you can reach out to every kid because you can reach every child in the classroom no matter what their academic levels are, and they can feel good about what they're learning and themselves, and that is the important thing," said Sinclair.
Sinclair has been teaching for 14 years and believes it's her calling. "I absolutely get out of bed every morning and love what I do."
And it shows.
She plans to teach until she is well into her 70s and if she's anything like her 91-year-old father, she'll have no problem.
"As long as I can do it. I'll do it."
