JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A creative writing teacher at LaVilla School of the Arts is helping her students compile a book about the school's ten year history. Cheryl Lemine is our Teacher of the Week.
She teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and they are all learning how to write everything from poetry to short stories. They are even learning how to write a book. The book is to celebrate the school's 10-year anniversary.
"We hope to commemorate a great achievement in the school's history," said Lemine.
She's hoping the book will be finished by the end of the school year.
One of her 6th grade students, Ally Gondeck, nominated her for Teacher of the Week. "I love Ms. Lemine. She's an amazing teacher. She always explains things fully and she does a whole bunch of fun stuff in class."
The year is almost over but before her students leave for the summer Ms. Lemine wants to make sure they know how to express themselves clearly.
"I tell them, 'people who can express themselves clearly and communicate well, that's an invaluable skill,' and I want them to have that because they have plenty to say and we need to hear them."
