JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A fourth-grade teacher at Whitehouse Elementary School has been teaching for 27 years.
She's our Teacher of the Week.
Linda McCann has been teaching a long time and it shows. Her fourth-grade students are learning a lot and love her.
"Mrs. McCann I would have to say is the best teacher I have ever had," said fourth-grader Lexi Rutherford.
Lexi's mom nominated McCann because she said McCann goes above and beyond with her class and she takes the time to sit and work with each student.
"It's just my style of teaching. There's a lot of teachers out there like me. If a child needs help, you help them," said McCann.
She may feel she's just doing her job, but to her students and their parents, she's the best.
McCann first got into teaching because she wanted to see that light go off in a student who is learning and she wanted to make a difference.
"I wanted to see the children sparkle. I wanted to see their eyes, 'I've got it,' and that's the best thing...," said McCann. "It still is after 27 years. That's the best thing about teaching is watching them grow."
After teaching 27 years, McCann doesn't plan to retire just yet. She's hoping to make it to at least 30 years.
