JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- This week's Teacher of the Week is an ESE Inclusion Teacher at Atlantic Coast High School.
Rachel Rippey spends her day walking from class to class to help her students. She's an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Inclusion teacher. The students she works with on a regular basis all have learning disabilities. Some are minor, others are more severe.
"There could be autism. It could be dyslexia or a special reading disability," said Rippey.
In the classroom, she doesn't want her students to be singled out, so she walks around and helps all of the students. In fact, she said, many of the other students don't even know she's an ESE teacher. "So I help everyone out and it makes my kids feel more comfortable asking questions, because it doesn't really label them because I'm here for everybody."
This is Rippey's first year teaching. She has a Master's Degree in Special Education.
